The Foundation

Every great studio has its roots in the dirt of independent production. For SunnyJ, that journey began in the high-energy world of MMH Productions in Ohio. Serving as an Associate Producer on cult-tier horror projects like Air Fryer Slaughter and Pool Shark Toy, SunnyJ mastered the essential art of the indie hustle—getting a vision onto the screen against all odds.

The Pivot

 

While the horror genre provided a masterclass in production, a new mission emerged: The Festival Bottleneck. Too many incredible indie voices were being silenced by "premiere requirements" and the "shelf-life" trap. To solve this, SunnyJ founded ZonKlast Studios, a boutique powerhouse dedicated to breaking the cycle and getting independent creators into the world’s most prestigious film circuits.

The Present & Future

 

Today, ZonKlast is a hub of constant motion. SunnyJ currently serves as an Assistant Producer for the highly anticipated 2026 feature film Achilles Returns.

Simultaneously, the studio is developing its own signature in-house experimental slate, projects designed specifically for festival penetration and producer credit opportunities.

 

Current works-in-progress include:

• Face in the Flock: A poignant experimental short following a lone lamb within an ever-growing flock.

• Panama Jack Boot Scootin' Along: A rhythmic, stylistic exploration of movement and persona.
