Mystic Mermaid Universe voyage series · On deck

The heart of the crew, and a stepping stone, not a destination. For someone building a career at sea or behind the camera who wants to leave the voyage with a logbook that counts.

Filming and production

Filming and production are planned for late 2027 and 2028. Start dates follow the purchase of the season's vessel and are confirmed in writing before anyone travels.

What you do

• Handle lines and fenders, clean and maintain the boat, and help in the galley.
• Welcome and look after guests.
• Help with camera and streaming gear, and be part of everyday life on screen.
• Work your chosen track whenever the boat allows. Seamanship: sea days, miles, night hours and tidal miles, logged and signed off by the captain, toward Day Skipper and Yachtmaster. Diving: dive days alongside the divemaster, toward professional dive ratings. Production: camera, streaming and editing work on the show, building a reel and screen credits.

What you bring

• A clear goal: the ticket, rating or career you're working toward, and how this voyage gets you there.
• RYA Competent Crew or some sea time. Drive counts for more than experience here.
• STCW Basic Safety Training and a seafarer medical for commercial legs.
• A good attitude, a strong stomach and a sense of humour. Someone has to look after the hens.
• Already a career deckhand? Tell us what you bring to the boat. Real charisma and on-screen presence can earn a place on their own.

How you are engaged

On delivery legs, with no paying guests aboard, as crew under a crew agreement on a private yacht, with signed sea time as the core of the deal.

On legs carrying paying guests, an apprentice is still crew in the eyes of the law. These legs run under a training agreement through a recognised training provider, or under a written agreement that meets the Maritime Labour Convention where it applies.
